Proposing BYOE: Bring Your Own Electricity, to power America's future.
Too much of the free world’s energy depends on fuel made by our adversaries. In nuclear fuel, that era is ending.
At the inaugural Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum in Tokyo this past weekend, the U.S. Export-Import Bank signed letters of interest supporting up to $4.2 billion in financing to supply American-enriched uranium to Japan and South Korea.
Thanks to our partners at EXIM, American-made enriched uranium can now power Japanese and South Korean reactors. By reducing financing risk for foreign utilities who buy American nuclear fuel, these letters of interest will help restore US leadership in nuclear energy.
With EXIM financing, every U.S. ally purchase of American fuel will accelerate the expansion of General Matter’s commercial enrichment facilities, supporting allied nuclear fuel production, energy security, and economic partnership.
We are grateful for the support of EXIM and the National Energy Dominance Council, along with our Japanese and Korean partners.
Building enrichment capacity at home was always the first step. Making enriched uranium available to our closest allies is the second. Both are now underway.

General Matter and the Department of Energy have signed a lease for the Hanford Site’s Fuels and Materials Examination Facility, unlocking its potential for America’s nuclear energy future.
Under a $900 million contract, General Matter will produce and supply HALEU for the nation’s advanced reactors.
